1. Advertising disclosure
This site may receive compensation when you click certain links or make purchases. We run paid campaigns on Microsoft Advertising (Bing), Google Ads, and other ad networks, and we work with affiliate partners on a portion of the kitchen products we recommend. Compensation never influences which recipes we publish, which products we sell, or what we say about them in editorial content. When a piece of writing is sponsored or paid, we label it clearly at the top.
2. Affiliate disclosure
Some links on this site -- particularly links to third-party retailers in the journal -- are affiliate links. If you click one of these links and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. The kitchen products we sell directly through our store are not affiliate sales; we source those ourselves and stand behind them with our 30-day money-back guarantee.
We participate in retailer affiliate programs because they help us keep the site running without flooding it with banner ads. Editorial decisions are made independently of these arrangements; if a product disappoints us, we will say so even if it earns us a commission.
3. Nutritional information
Where we provide nutritional information on a recipe (calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, sodium), the values are approximate and calculated from a standard database based on the listed ingredients and serving size. Real-world values can vary significantly based on the brand of ingredient, the exact cut of meat, the size of your produce, and how you measure.
Our nutritional information is provided for general guidance only and should not be relied on for medical or dietary planning. If you have a health condition that requires precise tracking -- diabetes, kidney disease, severe allergies, an eating disorder in recovery -- please consult a registered dietitian or your physician.
4. Food safety
Cooking carries inherent risks. Please follow safe food-handling practices in your own kitchen:
- Cook meat, poultry, fish, and eggs to USDA-recommended safe internal temperatures. The current temperatures are listed at the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service site.
- Wash your hands, surfaces, and utensils after contact with raw meat, poultry, or eggs.
- Refrigerate leftovers within two hours of cooking (one hour if the ambient temperature is above 90 F).
- Be aware of common allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, eggs, soy, wheat, fish, shellfish, sesame). Our recipes may contain or come into contact with these even when not listed as a primary ingredient.
If you have a severe allergy, always verify ingredient labels yourself. We tag recipes for common dietary needs, but a recipe tag is a starting point, not a substitute for reading the label on every product you use.
5. Recipe results
Every recipe published on Shake Stir Strain Recipes is tested at least twice in our kitchen before it goes live. That said, your stove, your pans, your oven calibration, your altitude, the freshness of your ingredients, and a hundred other small variables can produce different results. We write the timing and visual cues we observed; trust your eyes and your tongue first, and the clock second.
If a recipe does not work the way it should, we want to know. Email info@shakestirstrainbow.com with the recipe title and what happened, and we will retest and update the recipe if there is a problem on our end.
6. No medical or professional advice
The content on this site -- recipes, essays, product reviews, dietary tags -- is for general informational and culinary purposes only. It is not medical, nutritional, legal, or professional advice and should not be relied on as such. Decisions about your diet, health, kitchen equipment, or business should be made in consultation with a qualified professional who knows your specific situation.
7. Third-party content
Our site may link to third-party websites, products, and services for your convenience. We do not control those third parties and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or product quality. A link is not an endorsement.
8. Limitation of liability
By using this site and cooking from our recipes, you agree that SHAKED 22 LLC is not liable for any injury, illness, loss, or damage that may result from cooking, eating, or using the products we describe. Use common sense in your kitchen; the stove is hot, the knife is sharp, and good cooking takes attention.
